(Cordes Lakes, AZ) – Today, representatives with Wecom Fiber were joined by Yavapai County officials and local dignitaries for a groundbreaking ceremony to commemorate work beginning on the latest segment of high-speed Internet for unincorporated Yavapai County – specifically, Cordes Lakes and Spring Valley.
“Internet connectivity has been a top priority for Yavapai County, and we’re thrilled to be partnering with Wecom to deliver fast, reliable broadband to these rural communities,” said Yavapai County Supervisor James Gregory. “Broadband is a vital service that will benefit students, online job-seekers, remote workers, Internet retailers and everyone else who depends on reliable access to high-speed Internet.”
The project, partially funded via a $2.6 million grant from the Yavapai County Broadband Initiative, will construct approximately 62 miles of fiber and make multi-gigabit broadband available to an estimated 2,160 homes and businesses across Cordes Lakes and Spring Valley. Completion is expected during summer 2025.
“Rural Arizona deserves the very best in high-speed broadband connectivity, and that’s exactly what Wecom is delivering,” said Paul Fleming, CEO of Wecom Fiber. “Wecom is proud to partner with Yavapai County in expanding this essential infrastructure across communities where it is needed most.”
In total, Yavapai County has awarded Wecom an $8.1 million grant to construct fiber broadband for the unincorporated communities of Cordes Lakes, Spring Valley, White Horse Ranch, Paulden, Rimrock and Beaver Creek. Wecom will utilize private capital to pay all remaining costs for construction. Upon completion, the project will make high-speed Internet available to nearly 6,500 homes and businesses.
Wecom prioritizes Internet affordability. Customers have access to a variety of low-cost broadband plans and can participate in many federal Internet accessibility programs, including E-rate, Rural Health
Care, and Lifeline.
In addition to its partnership with Yavapai County, Wecom has broadband fiber installation projects underway in Coconino County, and agreements in Mohave, Pinal and La Paz counties.
