Mayor Palguta, local leaders & Wecom Fiber officials commemorate beginning of construction on high-speed, fiber broadband in Prescott Valle

August 4, 2025

(Prescott Valley, AZ) – Mayor Kell Palguta and community leaders gathered Thursday morning as Wecom Fiber broke ground on a high-speed, fiber broadband network that will be accessible to approximately 25,000 Prescott Valley homes and businesses. The $35 million project is 100% privately-financed by Wecom with no taxpayer dollars involved, and was approved in June via a unanimous vote by the Prescott Valley Town Council.

“Prescott Valley residents and business owners need and deserve access to reliable, affordable and ultra-fast Internet,” said Mayor Palguta. “Wecom and its next-generation fiber broadband network will be a great addition to our community.”

Project completion is expected in early 2027, though broadband service at many properties will begin significantly earlier. Wecom’s fiber broadband enables multi-gigabit Internet speeds – perfect for streaming, surfing and other online needs of students, businesses, job-seekers and more. High-speed, reliable broadband is an economic imperative, noted .Steve Bracety, President & CEO of the Prescott Valley Chamber of Commerce

“High-speed, reliable broadband is not merely an amenity – it is a must-have for Prescott Valley as we seek to recruit and retain the best employers,” Bracety said. “We are excited to welcome Wecom and look forward to the positive difference that its fiber broadband will make for area business owners, entrepreneurs, job-seekers, students and more.”

Based in Arizona, Wecom was founded in Kingman nearly 70 years ago as a telecommunications company. Today, Wecom is a leading provider of fiber-to-the-premises broadband across rural Arizona, and is playing a vital role in bridging the digital divide in which hundreds of thousands of Arizonans still lack reliable access to high-speed Internet.

“I love to see a company like Wecom that is based in rural Arizona and remains committed to serving rural Arizona,” said state Rep. Quang Nguyen, who lives in Prescott Valley and represents a district that includes most of Yavapai County and a portion of Maricopa County. “Access to high-speed, reliable and affordable Internet means jobs, economic opportunity and educational freedom for Prescott Valley and Yavapai County. Thank you, Wecom!”

In addition to Prescott Valley, Wecom is already installing or will soon begin construction of fiber broadband across multiple rural or unincorporated communities in Yavapai County, including: Cordes Lakes, Spring Valley, White Horse Ranch, Paulden, Rimrock, Dewey-Humboldt and Beaver Creek. The broadband provider also has partnerships with Yavapai, Coconino, Mohave, Pinal and La Paz counties, and recently broke ground on a $45 million project to install fiber across Flagstaff.
